Gospel recording artist Nikki Porter has traveled throughout the United States, Italy, Germany, and Switzerland singing and teaching Gospel music.  Her performance experience includes opening for or singing background vocals for national Gospel recording artists (in Pittsburgh, PA) including Kirk Franklin, Tye Tribett, J. Moss, Karen Clark-Sheard, Israel Houghton, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Donald Lawrence, Vickie Winans, Take6, and many others.  She also has performed on the Bobby Jones New Artists Showcase (WORD Network) in Hollywood, FL and most recently portrayed First Lady Lorraine Lotts in the hit Gospel musical stage play The Bold & The Sanctified II at the Byham Theater in Pittsburgh.  Nikki’s single releases,” The Highest Praise” and “No One Like You” are available on iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby, Google Music and Bandcamp.  Prior to these releases, she locally distributed a 3-song maxi-single, and has been featured on numerous recordings singing lead and background vocals.  She is currently working on a full solo CD with producer, Jerome Kirkland.    Nikki’s full-time vocation is Head of Staff and Minister of Music at Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh, PA a cross-cultural inner-city congregation.  There she leads worship, directs the adult and youth praise teams and Mass Choir, teaches private voice lessons in the church’s after-school music program, The Judah Project, which she established in 2005, and supervises the church staff.  Nikki received her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA, where she also studied jazz voice with the late Maureen Budway.  In addition, she studied advanced piano and music theory privately with Dr. Alton Merrell and voice with renowned Opera singer and teacher, Eugene Perry.    Nikki is happily married to Rev. Raymond Porter, Jr., an Associate Pastor of Potter’s House Ministries in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where Bishop Otis L. Carswell is the Senior Pastor.  She joined her husband in membership at Potter’s House upon their marriage in July 2006.  Prior to that, she was a member for sixteen years of Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ, where Bishop Loran E. Mann is the Senior Pastor.  Nikki and Raymond, Jr. are the proud parents of a vibrant eight-year-old boy, Raymond III, who is following in his mom’s musical footsteps – singing and playing piano.
